Our Story
In 2019, Layal Khatib was a work from home freelancer looking for a place in Saida to work and connect with people.
In October 17 2019, she and her husband Mohammed Ghamloush opened Sikka, a free and open co-working space for people to connect, and follow their dreams.
The house is next to what's left of the railroad system in Lebanon. Sikka in Arabic means the railroad and also the "path" or "way". The name was chosen to help people in their "path" to success.
Since we launched on the same day of the Lebanese uprising(pure coincidence), the place turned into a community hub for seminars, a meeting points and other activities the city and youth needed for a better future.
A few years later, we took the orchard that's next to the house and we're using it now as a pilot project spot for permaculture and circular economy practices.
Hi, we're Sikka Saida. Our free and open co-working space is in Saida, Lebanon and we provide private and shared co-working spaces, training and support to youth and startups in Saida.
We're fond of advocating for economic models that empower marginalised groups and supports cooperative initiatives to encourage self-reliance. And we really care about equality, justice, solidarity, participation, environmental protection, self-sufficiency, and food security.
